Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the 14th of September 1928, she graduated from Bellevue High School in Pittsburgh. In 1946, she enrolled in Bethany College of West Virginia where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, was the editor for the school newspaper, and was a charter member of the college’s Kalon Leadership Society. It was also at Bethany where she met her husband of fifty-five years, George Walter Bado. The couple wed in 1953 and settled in Pittsburgh.
After her graduation from college, Sally worked as a copywriter for Gimbels Department Store. Sally enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh and earned her Master’s Degree in Education and taught English at Bellevue/Northgate High School until she retired in 1993.
Sally was preceded in death by her late husband, George. She is survived by sons: Ken Bado of San Francisco, Richard Bado of Houston, and Mark Bado and wife Wendy of Kansas City; Angie Bado of Dallas; and grandchildren: Matthew, Megan, Colin, Kirkpatrick, Chandler, and Alexandria.
The family desires to acknowledge and express their gratitude to the professional and dedicated staff at both the Forum at Memorial Woods and Houston Hospice. A special thank you to Sally’s two loving caregivers, Winnie Hedge and Bernetta Head.
A memorial service, in celebration of Sally's life, is to be conducted at half-past one o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 17th of February, at Hiland Presbyterian Church, 845 Perry Highway in Pittsburgh, where the Rev. Dr. Lawrence A. Ruby, Pastor, is to officiate.
