Josephine Lynch Gray, 89 of Sandy Springs, died January 29, 2013. Mrs. Gray was born June 9, 1923 in Wilmington, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Lynch. She had one brother, Charles Lynch of Greensboro, NC. She attended the University of Tennessee where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. During WWII Josephine served in the Navy WAVES in Oregon. Upon returning home to Greensboro, N.C. she met Warren C. Gray, a recent graduate of Yale University and the Harvard Business School. The couple wed on November 14, 1947 at the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro. The family relocated to the Sandy Springs area in the early 1960’s. Her true passion was her family and her involvement in her church, Mt. Vernon Presbyterian, leading the Prayer Chain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren C. Gray and by her brother. Josephine is survived by her daughters, Jody Travis (Don) and Marion Schaefer (Charlie); sons, Warren Gray, Jr., and Charles Gray (Lisa); 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nephew, John Lynch; and niece, Martha Leonard (Larry). In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Foundation, 471 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 or the Dorothy C. Benson Center, 6500 Vernon Woods Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Memorial services will be held at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 1:00 with interment to follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
