Seymour Polansky, 90, former longtime Greenwich resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 30, 2013. He was born in New York, N.Y. on January 1, 1923 to the late Julius and Hilda Polansky and married to the late Regina Polansky for more than 60 years. A graduate of Boys High School in Brooklyn, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. He worked as a chemist in private industry for many years before devoting his life to teaching organic chemistry at the New York Institute of Technology. A veteran of WWII, he served as a member of the signal corps in the Philippines. Seymour loved to swim at Tod’s Point and later at the Tully Center in Stamford. He is survived by his three children; Marcia Polansky, Larry Polansky and Jesse Polansky; and his four grandchildren, Kevin Chin, Jay Polansky, Juni Polansky and Ruby Polansky.
