Lena W. Beavers, 73, of Sikeston, died January 30, 2013, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center. Born September 9, 1939, in Micola, to the late John and Irene McAdow Callaham, she had been a supervisor at the Miner Nursing Center, retiring after seventeen years. She was a homemaker and currently worked at the Sikeston Kindergarten Center in the Foster Grandparent program. She was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston. On August 31, 1962, in Sikeston, she married James Walton Beavers Jr., who survives of the home.
In addition to her husband, survivors include: three sons, James Walton (Kim) Beavers III of Mountain Home, Ark., Christopher (Kim) Beavers of Sikeston and Mark Allan Beavers and fiancé Michele Beard of Sikeston; one brother, Clarence Callaham of Advance; and one sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Hershall Murphy of Sikeston. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5-8pm this evening at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, where funeral services will be conducted at 10am Saturday, February 2, with Johnny Hester and Pat Hogan of the Shady Acres Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will follow in the New Morley Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Don Daughhetee, Michael Duff, James Whitley, Jeff Robey, Marion Pearson and Robert Gosnell.
