Joyce was born in Duluth on April 10, 1933 to Esther and Donald Flewell. She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1951. She was very proud of her accomplishments, working her way up to Booking Manager at the Duluth Arena Auditorium (now DECC) where she worked from October 1963 until January 1994. The Mezzanine was named after her when she retired after her many years of service.
Joyce was an active member of the Zonta International Club and she loved spending her weekends on the “pond” (Island Lake).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Benedict; first husband, Raymond Parke; parents; brother, Donald; sisters, Jean and Julie; and granddaughter, Michelle Delaney.
Joyce is survived by her children, Rayne, Timothy, Kevin, Ross (Nyla), Lee (Sally), Neal (Melody); grandchildren, Nick Rafvino, Jenny (AJ) Wallan, Leah (Todd) Getts, Jessie Benedict, Steve Forstrom, Angie Forstrom, Nick Forstrom, Sarah Benedict, Brette (Kyle) Venier, Nick Benedict, Shane (Andrea) Beedy, Nissa Benedict, April Benedict, Lilia Parke, Linde Parke; 14 great grandchildren; and sister, June (Roger) Alvar.
