1928 –2013
Passed away peacefully in Vancouver. He adored his loving wife of 63 years, Mona van Ark, children Joan, Janet (Marc Goodman), and James (Anne), and grandchildren Lauren, Caren & Jamie Currie McDonald, Neil and Dayle Goodman, and Chloe Currie. Predeceased by his beloved parents James Arthur Currie and Ida Maude Johnson. His family will miss him dearly and cherish their individual and collective memories, especially of the cottage in Muskoka. He was respected, loved, and admired by all who knew him.
Norman Currie was the President of the Milling and Baking Division of Maple Leaf Foods and a leading figure in the food industry in Canada for over 43 years. He received the Centennial Medal for his work with the Freedom from Hunger and Mysore Project. He served others through his Privy Council appointment as a Governor of the International Development Research Centre and through his lifelong commitment to volunteerism in his community and around the world.
