Nathan D. Barry died peacefully, in New Bedford, MA surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the age of 87 after a long illness. He was born on April 7, 1925 in Milton, MA to Abraham and Bertha Barry. Nate is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judy (Adaskin) Barry, his children and their spouses, Ellen Barry Fallon and Ray Fallon of Chestnut Hill, MA, Beth Barry and Daniel Sussman of New York, NY, Ed and Peggy Barry of South Dartmouth, MA, grandchildren Adam, Ben, Matthew, Jake and Emma and sister Sally (Barry) Hamburger of Milton, MA. Nate spent his youth in Quincy MA and was a veteran of the army in World War II. He was a proud graduate of Syracuse University. He was a successful, independent entrepreneur in New Bedford, Massachusetts for 30 years. During their 60 years of marriage, he and Judy lived in New Bedford, MA, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and South Dartmouth, MA. He was a lifetime member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue, an active member and advocate for the Jewish Federation for over 20 years and a lifetime member of Allendale Country Club in Dartmouth, MA. Nate was an avid reader, fisherman, golfer and lover of life. He always contributed his time and energy to his family, his local community, to the Jewish community and to his longtime friends.
