Raymond D. Jones, Sr., 83, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away February 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208. Mr. Jones was born August 28, 1929 in Lexington, Nebraska, son of Raymond H. and Mary M. (Hengstenberg) Jones. He served his country from 1948-1968, both in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and the Sergeant’s Association. Mr. Jones was a Dog Soldier in the Tribe of Mic-o-Say. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl and Henry Jones, and sister Erma Jean Hannigan. He is survived by his loving wife Elaine (Sheeley) Jones; sister Nola Ruth Reed (Bob); son Raymond Jones Jr. (Tanya); daughters Denise Myers (Dennis) and Mary Baker (Charles); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
