She was born on October 8, 1927 in rural Omaha, IL, the daughter of the late Charles and Wilma (Kiesler) Patton. She married Francis “Fred” Koehler on Oct. 22, 1949 in Springfield and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2004.
Mrs. Koehler graduated from Norris City High School. She started her working career with the state of Illinois until her first son was born. She spent the majority of her life after that as a homemaker. Imogene loved to watch it snow and enjoyed feeding the songbirds. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of the Sorority Club, was a former member of St. Cabrini Catholic Church for 40 years and later became a member at St. Agnes Catholic Church.
Imogene is survived by 4 sons, Thomas (wife Patricia) Koehler of New Berlin, IL, Timothy (wife Deidre) Koehler of Chatham, IL, James (wife Lori) Koehler of Riverton, IL, and David (wife Marilyn) Koehler of Springfield; 8 grandchildren, Teagan Koehler of Springfield, Spencer Koehler of Naperville, IL, Tony (wife Tori) Koehler and Dusty (wife Tia) Koehler, both of DeBeque, CO, Alex and Alyse Koehler of Springfield and Andrew and Miranda Koehler, also of Springfield, 1 great-grandson Ryan Koehler of DeBeque, CO, a brother Joe (wife Wilma) Patton of West Frankfort, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Imogene was preceded in death by a son Ronald Koehler and a daughter Sandra Koehler, a brother Jake Patton, and 2 sisters Virginia Tarrant and Maxine Vickers.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill, Springfield where visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 at 10 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Springfield, with Father Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Berlin, IL.
