Germana was born in the Philippines to the late Domingo Fernandez, Sr. and Catalina Fernandez on May 12, 1934. She attended Zambales Commercial High School in the Philippines from 1947-1950. With a strong interest in piano, Germana began teaching piano students from her home and held annual recitals. She extended piano lessons to Naval Base residents in Olongapo City and students at Magaysay Memorial College. Germana continued her career as a piano teacher for 45 years and was the church organist at the Philippine Independent Church in San Narciso, Zambales.
Germana was a member and officer of several organizations in San Narciso and also belonged to the Zambales Association of Ventura County, Inc. while her interests include playing scrabble, card games, doing word puzzles, and watching Wheel of Fortune and the Tagalog Filipino Channel, she also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Germana was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfredo Daural Alegado; parents, Domingo and Catalina Fernandez; and sister, Josefina Fuertes. She is survived by son, Joe Harvey Alegado (Madonna Rodriguez); daughter, Zaida Lyn Farala (Vic Farala); sister, Angie Basila (Verny Basila); brothers, Maximino Fernandez (Barbara Fernandez), Dennis Fernandez (Lucy Feria Fernandez), Domingo Fernandez, Jr. (Siony Almazon Fernandez), and Leonides Quevedo (Aurora Quevedo); six grandchildren: Cherrielle Gem, Zaveah Vince, Elai, Nikki, and Andrei; 30 nieces and nephews; 31 grandnieces and grandnephews, and one great-grandnephew.
Viewing will be held Saturday, march 2, 2013, from 2 to 9 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. in the Chapel at Funeraria del Angel Conrad Carroll Mortuary, 401 W. Channel Isl. Blvd., Oxnard 487-4911. Germana will be laid to rest with her late husband in the Philippines.
