Don Smith, 62, of Colorado Springs CO passed away on February 24, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Don was born and raised in Bloomington, IL and moved to Colorado in the early 80s. He was an avid Nascar and Denver Broncos fan. He also loved to travel, read a good book, and grill out with friends and family. Many people also knew Don from his long-time employment at Andy’s Market on Platte Avenue.
Don is survived by his wife Marcella; daughters Kimberly Sterling, Kristi Timmons, Kerra Smith (Bloomington, IL), sisters Frances Mead, Louise Smith, Judy Marshall (Bloomington, IL), Joyce Mowry (Arizona City, AZ), Arleen Hunnicutt (Jacksonville, FL); brothers Ronald Smith (Henderson, NV), Bud Smith (Heyworth, IL), James C. Smith (Australia), Edward Smith (Peoria, IL), Tracy Smith (Rowlett, TX); stepmother Naoma Smith (Bloomington, IL); 3 step-children, and 18 grand-children.
Don was preceded in death by his parents: eldest brother Clayton Smith: and sisters Lois Stevenson and Wilma Christine Bradley.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Gardens, 3825 Airport Rd, Colorado Springs on Thursday February 28 from 3-4pm, followed by a memorial service at 4pm.
