EASTHAM - Benjamin Bartolini, of Delray Beach Florida, formerly of Framingham and Eastham Massachusetts, passed away February 19th, 2013 at the age of 88 years old. He was born into a hard working and loving family in Framingham, Massachusetts, June 13th 1924. He continued throughout his life living the American dream, as a son, husband and father. Ben, son of Raniero and Carmela and brother of Mario, was a graduate from Framingham High School, class of ‘42. After graduating from Massachusetts Radio School, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines in 1943 and served throughout WWII as a radio officer, seeing his share of battles (Runs to Murmansk Russia, Italy and Egypt). Upon returning home from war, he married the love of his life Eleanor H. Connery. He worked for The New England Telephone Company for 38 years. A community oriented man, Ben was a boy scout, an eagle scout and leader for 30 years. He served on the Framingham school committee, first as a member and finishing as the chairman. When purchasing a parcel of land in Eastham MA in 1956 and constructing his home, Ben had no idea that he would be a part of founding a compound for his, and his brother’s families, who continue to live on the property today. While allowing his family to summer on the Cape until their move in 1977, he continued to work for the phone company until 1984, retiring as a manager. Carrying on his commitment to community, Ben worked on the Eastham finance committee, spearheading the construction of the Eastham DPW Barn. His travels with his wife Eleanor and friends Tony and Betty Conte, led him to vacationing in Florida, until he made his permanent move to Country Manors, in Delray Beach. His intellectual savvy was unending even in retirement. As the document expert for Country Manors, he was the go-to person for any problem or question. Serving as a special adviser to the president of Country Manors, he was well-known, highly respected and equally knowledgeable. Throughout the years, he held the position of head of the family, always being called upon for advice and support. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, his daughter and son in law Brenda and James Benoit, his son and daughter in law Bruce and Elaine, his son Barry, his daughter and son in law Bonnie and Tim Trott and grandchildren Ben, Bethany, Hannah and Gina, nieces and nephews as well as dearly loved long time friends. Benjamin was a man who we all feel so truly blessed to have had in our lives, and for that we will always be thankful. Calling hours are Monday, February 25th, at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans MA from 4-7 pm. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, February 26th at St. Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, Massachusetts at 10 am, with a burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
