A Celebration of life service will be held for Ronald Hungate on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. The service will be officiated by Bro. Billy Pierce. Interment will follow at N.W. LA Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Ron was born on May 14, 1934 in West Virginia. He passed away on March 2, 2013 in Bossier City, LA. He joined the Air Force at 18 years old and retired from Barksdale at 38 years of age. After his Air Force retirement, he worked for many years on Barksdale in building management. He loved Bossier City and never thought of leaving.
He enjoyed outdoor activities, which included hunting, fishing, camping, boating and skiing. He and Reba took to the road with Pelican Travelers RV Club for many years. They loved to travel. Ron was a Shriner and a member of Arkla-Tex-Chapter of Air Force security police association. He was a past president of the Pelican Travelers.
He was preceded by his parents, Emmit and Amy Hungate and sister, Patty Sawyer.
Ron is survived by his wife, Reba; sons, Coy Kerry and wife Melinda, Ronald Charles Hungate, Jr., daughters, Donna Kerry, Joetta Stevens, and Kelly Grogan; grandchildren, Richard Kerry and wife Erin, Stephanie Kerry, James Harden, John Stevens, Sean Joseph Grogan; great grandchildren, Isabel Kerry and Alayasa Harden; brothers, Emmit Hungate, Jr. and wife Marietta, Dexter Hungate and wife Anna; and sister, Tessie Meadows and husband Lawrence.
