JOHNSON, George H. 89 of Deerfield passed away March 3, 2013. He was born in Weymouth, MA. He entered the Army Air Corp during WWII at age 17 with his parents approval where he received his High School Diploma and his Wings simultaneously. He worked for New York Telephone in Long Island, NY and transferred and retired from Bell South. He was a creative man and holder of several patents, one of which was used on the NASA Space Shuttles. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge and founding member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Deerfield Beach. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years Lillian and his son George M. Johnson. Survived by his daughters Joanne Johnson, Nancy Norton and Christine Kalbach, daughter-in-law Karen Johnson, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A Mass will be said at 10 am Sat. March 9, 2013 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church followed by interment in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Pompano Beach. Visitation will be Fri.
