Alfred P., age 78, a 45 year resident of Old Tappan, passed away peacefully on Monday March 4, 2013, at Villa Marie Claire, surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 55 years Marion Lomaglio, 3 children, Lynn Massey and her husband Bruce of Woodcliff Lake, Kenneth Lomaglio and his wife Berlida of River Vale and Kara Weir and her husband Gary of Hillsdale, and 6 grandchildren, Kate and Kevin Massey, Kristina and Deanna Lomaglio and Benjamin and Corinne Weir. He is also survived by loving cousins Robert Oderio and Claudia Oderio. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Ines Lomaglio.
Al was raised in New York City, graduated from De La Salle Academy and Manhattan College and received an MBA from New York University. He was a member of the U.S. Army reserves for 12 years. He was employed by Montgomery Ward and S&H Green Stamps before going into his own business for the next 25 years. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Old Tappan and served as an usher and weekly collection counter.
Al was a renaissance man known for his diverse talents and interests. He was an active gardener, oil painter, cook, reader, investor and furniture restorer. He had active interests in art, antiques, the stock market, food and wine. But most of all, he was a loving and engaged husband, father and grandfather to his family.
Al will also be remembered for his wry sense of humor and his family will be comforted by recounting his humorous stories for years to come.
Visitation Friday, March 8, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ 07675. Funeral Mass Saturday, 10 AM at St. Pius X Church, Old Tappan, NJ. Entombment at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
