He began life on May 7, 1919 in Tabiona, Utah, where his parents had homesteaded. He was the ninth child of Ada Sarah (Sanford) and Lorenzo Wagstaff Clark. After a logging accident injured his father, the family returned to Salt Lake City, where he attended school and graduated from East High. Dad was raised in a loving and musical home. Siblings and cousins were his closest friends.
Dad went to work at the H & S Kress store in Salt Lake where he met his wife, Reva Wicker. He always said, "I met a million dollar baby in a five and ten cent store." They were married August 21, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Shortly after their marriage, World War II began and Dad enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Grand Island, Nebraska where their first child, Susan, was born. After 4 years they returned to Bountiful, Utah, where Cathryn was born. Dad worked for Strevell Paterson Hardware Company and was transferred to Twin Falls in 1950, where Paul and Karen were born. Later, a nephew, Doug Wicker, also joined the family.
Dad was known as a hardworking, honest man. He was always a gentleman and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor and entertained his family with funny songs, stories, and jokes which we all cherish. Music was always in our home.
Dad was active in the LDS church and served in the bishopric and on the High Council. He and Reva filled a stake mission and served at the LDS Institute. He loved the temple.
He is survived by his children, Susan (Richard) Slaughter of Boise, Cathryn (Russell) Sheen of Twin Falls, Paul (Debra) Clark of Twin Falls, Karen Thomas of Twin Falls, and Doug Wicker of Jerome. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he cherished.
He will be honored at a funeral service held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the 6th Ward LDS chapel, 667 Harrison St. Twin Falls under the direction of Lance Cox. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday March 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at White Mortuary “Chapel by the Park” and at the church from 12:00 to 12:45 on Saturday prior to the service.
The family wishes to thank all those who have cared for our father through the years.
