Mackenzie Alba Newsome, a.k.a. Mac, Age 4, passed away on Tuesday night at home with her family. After over a year-long courageous battle with cancer, Mac went on to rest in the arms of The Lord. She was a beautiful, gentle and brave soul who truly loved life. She enjoyed Disney Princesses and spending time with her family. Mackenzie attended Mill Ridge Primary School as a mentor with their pre-school program before her illness. Mackenzie is the daughter of Michael and Melissa (Lahoud) Newsome.
Besides her parents, she is survived by her little brother Jacob, her maternal grandparents, David and Nancy Lahoud, her paternal grandparents, Levi “Skip” and Mary Ann Newsome, her maternal great grandmother Roberta Lahoud Eglington and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10am at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received on Friday from 4pm –8pm at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to The Mackenzie Newsome Scholarship Fund, a scholarship that financially will aide high school students whom major in biology, c/ o Danbury High School, 43 Clapboard Ridge Rd., Danbury, CT 06811. Mac’s favorite color was pink and it is requested that all attending her funeral wear an item in pink in her memory. Mackenzie will be loved and missed, always.
