Evelia Castaneda Ramirez, 75, died peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at home surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with progressive diabetes. Evelia was born in Suchil, Durango, in Mexico, the daughter of Manuel Castaneda and Gabriela Rosas Castaneda. Evelia enjoyed the outdoors, especially playing in "MamaLaLa's",her grandmother's garden, during her childhood. Despite her impoverished upbringing Evelia's love for life encouraged her drive for learning and appreciated culture, arts, poetry, literature, classical music and the glory of God's love through nature. Evelia married Camilo T. Ramirez on Sept. 10, 1965, Evelia and Camilo began their family in Big Spring, Texas, where they lived for 16 years with their three children who soon followed. The family moved to San Angelo, Texas, where they lived their quaint but humble lives for 32 years. Evelia instilled a strong religious foundation in each of her children and grandchildren which to this day cultivate their perseverance to never give up and look to the sky for the sun will always rise tomorrow. Evelia is survived by her children, Camilo Ramirez Jr. and his Cindy of San Angelo, Araceli Hernandez of San Antonio and Bernice Ramirez and husband Randy Moya of San Angelo; stepchildren Felipe Ramirez and wife Carmen of San Antonio, Rachel Amaya of San Antonio and Tammy Bauer and husband Tom of Frisco; grandchildren Joshua Joel Ramirez, Camilo Christopher Ramirez, Jennifer Yvonne Davenport, Clarissa Lenove Hernandez, Chrysantha Adelaide Hernandez, Chloe Elise Hernandez and Vinny paul Moya; and sister Eloisa Rosas Castaneda of Suchil, Durango. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and siblings Maria Elena Castaneda, Manuel Castaneda, Jose Castaneda, Antonio Castaneda and Maria Luisa Renteria. Prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Johnson's Funeral Home.
