Richard Thompson of Waldorf, Maryland passed away on March 12, 2013 at the age of 81.
Richard was an avid radio operator (W3ODJ) achieving DXCC honor roll by the American Radio League and he obtained an Engineering Degree from the University of Maryland. He did a lot of traveling with his favorite place being Nepal in the Himalayas. He worked at NASA and enjoyed his work mathematically modeling planetary atmospheres. He was well known for his love and care for cats of all kind.
Richard is preceded in death by his father Daniel Thompson, mother Marie Thompson and brother Daniel Thompson Jr. He is survived by his close friends Paul Schmid and Robert Gardner as well as many friends and colleagues.
The funeral service will be on Friday March 15, 2013 at 10:00am at St.Peter's Catholic Church in Waldorf, Maryland. The burial will follow the funeral service at St.Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
