A native of Waynesville, NC, Mrs. Etters was the daughter of the late Cecil and Lydia James Montgomery and was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Dr. James Nolan Etters and sister, Emma Montgomery. She graduated from Chester High School and earned her NBA from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Mrs. Etters was employed with the University of Georgia for about 15 years in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors. She was the first covergirl to appear on the (TCC) Textile Chemist and Colorists on the March 1971 cover. Mrs. Etters enjoyed reading books, working in her yard, and going to unique shops looking for a new treasure. She also loved to travel all over the world and over their 41 years of marriage, Mr. Etters lavished her with trips to places such as Rome, Spain, Egypt, Australia just to name a few. They had a life together that most people dream of and will truly be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include sisters, Brenda Parkins and her husband, Roy, Jean Montgomery and Wanda Montgomery all of Chester; nephew, Matt Parkins of Union; niece, Julie Taylor of York; 3 great-nephews; 2 great-nieces, and sister-in-law, Sybil J. Etters of Charlotte, NC.
Memorial services will be held 3PM Sunday, March 24th at Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Chester, SC.
