He was a native of Ardoin Cove and had been a resident of Lafayette for many years, moving from Sulphur. Leness was a hard working man and had been employed in the oilfield for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Ardoin; three children, Peggy Ardoin and husband, Ronnie Sonnier of Duson, Rebecca Ardoin of Lafayette, and Rachiel Ardoin and husband, Timothy Bush, Jr. of Lafayette; six siblings, Anita J. Young, Elizabeth Ardoin, Herman Ardoin, and Lilton P. Ardoin, all of Sulphur, Margaret Quibodeaux of Carlyss, and Gilford Ardoin of Moss Bluff; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Anita Ardoin; three children, Amos John Ardoin, Olive Jane Ardoin, and Donald Joseph Ardoin; and seven siblings, Desire "Shorty" Ardoin, Amos John Ardoin, Allen Joseph Ardoin, Wilma West, Elvina Alpine, Ernest James Ardoin, and Mary Ann Abshire.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Deacon Johnny Mounce' will officiate. Burial will be in Ardoin Cove Cemetery in Lacassine. Pallbearers will be Timothy Bush, Jr., Jayvian Bush, Ronnie Sonnier, Quintin Sonnier, Amos Bourque, Joseph Bourque, Tiyael Bush, and Keyon Bourque. Visitation will be on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home. A rosary will be held at noon during the visitation.
