Jeanette DeLaire Knoblock, 88, passed peacefully on March 14, 2013 in Auburn, California. Formerly from Syracuse New York, Jeanette lived in Auburn since 2000. Jeanette was born in Utica, New York on April 2, 1924. She graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1942 and held several clerical jobs before marrying Raymond Knoblock in 1950 and having three children. Jeanette and her husband enjoyed dancing and crossword puzzles. She was very active in the parish of Holy Trinity Church. She was instrumental in the establishment of the McCarthy School for the mentally handicapped.
She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond who died in 1995, her parents, brother Woodrow DeLaire and sister Elsie Dooling. She is survived by her three children, John Knoblock, of Auburn, California, Christine Boykin (John) of Grass Valley California and Sue Kelly (Tom) of Syracuse New York. She loved her three grandsons, Michael Kelly, Ryan Boykin and Patrick Kelly and several nieces and extended family.
Jeanette had such a positive outlook on life and always looked for the best in everyone and everything, even throughout her long ordeal with rheumatoid arthritis for almost 40 years and severe stroke for the past 5 years. A truly beautiful woman inside and out, her spunk and unconditional love will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Auburn Ravine Terrace for taking such good care of “Sassy” for the past five years. They made her years there happy ones.
A Catholic Memorial Mass will be held at Chapel of the Hills in Auburn, CA on Wednesday, March 27 at 11 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Anne’ s Catholic Church on May 4, 2013 at 11 a.m. with a calling hour starting at 10 am. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse, New York.
