COOPER, Burns Pittman - born in Quebeck, TN to Karl Russell Cooper and Dorothy Pittman Cooper on the 24th of June 1925, and passed away in Nashville, TN on the 22nd of March 2013 at the age of 87. He grew up in Quebeck, and graduated from White Co. High School. As a young adult, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a signalman aboard the aircraft carrier, Yorktown, "The Fighting Lady" during WWII, and then served his country 2 more years during the Korean War. He later developed a career as an HVAC Engineer, working 18 years at Vanderbilt before going on to work for Opryland for another 18 years before retiring. He will be remembered fondly by those within various groups where he shared a love of God, good friendships and good coffee. He held a former membership with Hillsboro Church of Christ, and a current membership with Bellevue Church of Christ, was an original member of the Hutcherson's Coffee Club, and in most recent years, took part in founding The Meadows Coffee Club. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hardy (Rachel) Cooper of West Palm Beach, FL; and granddaughter, Valen Lee Cooper of Arrington, TN. Survived by loving wife of 61 years, Alice D. Cooper; daughter, Libby Cooper of Nashville; son, Russell (Lori) Cooper of Arrington, TN; daughter, Mary Alice (Jim) West of Ore City, TX; grandchildren, Karl Cooper, Ali (Steven) Bishop; one great grandson, Trace Bishop; sister, Myrtice (Bill) Demonbreun of Viola, TN. A Graveside Service will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 25th of March 2013 at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Buddy Koonce, Steele Cooper, Karl Cooper, Rocky Dudley, Steven Bishop, and Jim West. A time of visitation will be held with the family at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home two hours prior beginning at eleven o'clock Monday morning up until the time of service.
