He served in the U.S. Marines Corps and was also employed by the City of Brownsville for 32 years as a Building Inspector.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Maria H. Perez; his parents, Felipe and Oralia Perez; and his sister Oralia Mendoza.
He is survived by his children, Angie Zamora and Jose Luis (Angelica) Cano ;brothers and sisters, Rachael Gutierrez, Francisco Perez and Ester Campos; grandchildren, Anahi Cano, Yoali Cardenas, Desirey De la Fuente, Jose Cano Jr., Fernando Cano and Cesar Cano; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held today Friday, March 29, 2013 from 10am-9pm at Fuenraria Del Angel Buena Vista with a Holy Rosary at 7pm.
A Chapel Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1pm at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
