Firment, Paul age 88 of Dayton passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Sanctuary at Wilmington Place. Born March 31, 1924 in Hastings, PA to the late John and Mary Firment, he is also preceded in death by a son Kevin Firment; siblings Mary Wells, Joe Firment, and Thomas Firment; and several half brothers and sisters. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Eleanor (nee McMullen); 2 daughters Linda (Jim) Zalusky and Debbie Bertke (Jerry Witt); a son Donald (Vicki) Firment; sisters Patty Firment and Dorothy (Ken) Vaughn; sisters-in-law Rosemary Firment and Rosella Uhron; 4 grandchildren: Jeremy Firment, Sarah (Ishman) Dorsey, Eric (Ellen) and Anna Zalusky; 3 great-grandchildren: Kayla Firment and McKenzie and Khloe Dorsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul retired from NCR after 31 years and later worked at Kettering Hospital for 10 years. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a longtime member of the VFW Post #9927. During his military career he spent time in North Africa and Italy and earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was also a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Free Spirits. Friends may visit at the Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel from 5 to 8pm Tuesday, April 2, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am, Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2300 S. Smithville Rd. Prayers will be held at 10am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Sanctuary and Hospice of Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or Hospice of Dayton (envelopes will be provided).
