She was a resident of West University Place for more than 50 years.
Katy was born May 17, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Frank and Alice Marshall.
She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1948, and became a reporter for the newspaper in Hobbs, N.M. She later worked for the Corpus Christi Caller Times, the Port Arthur News, various public relations services, and was co-owner of Fred Damon Photographics of Houston, TX. She was a regular columnist for the West University Place Argus Weekly in the 1970's.
Katy married Fred D. Damon on March 7, 1953, who preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by her children: Daniel F. Damon of Balmorhea, Texas; Elizabeth Richardson of San Antonio, Texas, and Margaret Dice of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren Kathleen Harty, Robert, Todd, and Michael Richardson; Brian, Parker, and Andrew Dice; and great-grandaughter Aubry Candance Harty.
Katy was staunch Democrat, a former Girl Scout leader, past president of the Society Professional Photographers Association, volunteered with the West University Senior Citizen's Center, and was an active participant in West University community activities.

Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 pm on Monday, April 1, 2013 and funeral service will be 10 am April 2, 2013 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
