Charles David Grauer, 68, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2013. Known as “Pastor Chuck,” his life exuded love, service, hard work, and courage. A lifelong boater on Torch Lake, he enjoyed model trains, a Model A, and the Cubs.
Born to Charles and Alice Grauer on January 6, 1945, he grew up in Chicago. Chuck completed a B.S. in business at Northwestern University and an M.Div. at Garrett Theological Seminary. He served as an elder in United Methodist churches in Michigan for 44 years: Frontier, Cambria, Osseo, Lickley’s Corners, and South Pittsford; Lansing Central; Washington Heights and Baseline in Battle Creek; Grass Lake; Three Rivers; Alma; Okemos Community; Plainwell; and Lansing Christ.
Active as a Rotarian and in Scouting, Chuck was a strong advocate of community service as part of faith. He is survived by wife Pat, children Kristen (Timothy Warren); Kimberly; and Lee Jordan (Melissa); and grandson Alex.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m., and services will be at 4 p.m., on Sunday, April 7, at Christ United Methodist Church, 517 W. Jolly, Lansing.
