Age 92, passed away on March 13, 2013, in Winter Haven, Florida. He was born May 13, 1920, in Massillon to Samuel and Anna Garratt. A 1938 graduate of Washington High School, Ev graduated from Ohio State University in 1943. He worked as a mechanical engineer with the Timken Company. He was a founding member of Church of the Lakes, deeply involved in Gideons, and a Boy Scout leader for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and golf.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anna Sarah Garratt; two daughters, Judi Garratt of Glendale, California, and Beth Lynn Sommer of Sylmar, California; two sons, David Everett Garratt of Arroyo Grande, California, and Mark Paul Garratt of Goshen, Indiana, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Everett was preceded in death by daughter Pamela Jo Garratt; sister, Ethel Geis: and brother, Glenn Garratt.
A memorial service open to all will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of the Lakes, 5944 Fulton Drive, Canton, OH 44718. A reception will follow in the church’s activity center. A private family burial will be held at Sunset Hills Burial Park and Memory Gardens at a later time.
