Bob was born July 21, 1941, in White Co., TN to Orb and Tiny Irene Johnson Elrod. In November of 1983, Bob married Janice A. Wall. They spent many happy years enjoying each other and traveling.
In 1960, Bob joined the United States Air Force. He was first stationed in Amarillo, TX for training as an aircraft mechanic. Bob was then transferred to Whiteman AFB, MO, for a period of time he often recalled as the coldest two winters he had ever spent. Bob later transferred to Carswell AFB, TX to finish out his active duty. Although Bob’s service was not over in 1972, he joined the USAF Reserves as an Air Reserve Technician. Bob worked for a period of time at Actec Manufacturing and LTV prior to going to work for the Reserves. After Bob and Janice married, they both went to work for the Defense Logistics Agency out of Dallas, TX, but that wasn’t to last long. Janice soon received a job offer from the Federal Aviation Administration and she and Bob began a new journey together. Bob finished his career working for the U.S. Postal Service in Washington, DC, where he was a materials and quality engineer.
Bob loved his grandchildren; they were the light and delight of his life. He always bragged on each of them and their accomplishments.
His parents and one sister, Geneve Edmonds, preceded Bob in death. He is survived by wife, Janice; daughter Michelle Elrod Gee and husband Scott of Aledo, TX; son Robert Elrod and wife Melisa of Austin, TX; three wonderful grandchildren, David and Shannon Suttmiller and Johnson Elrod; three sisters, Jean McCully and husband A.C. of Tallahassee, FL; Sue Barry and husband Joe of Kansas City, MO; and Dorothy Munoz of Pasadena, CA; sister-in-law Kat Turner of Logansport, LA; brother-in-law Dave Wall of Upland, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
