Kenneth was born on July 19, 1935 in Olfen, Texas, to JJ and Elsie Hoelscher. He also grew up, attended school, and married the love of his life, Delores Michalewicz, in Olfen. The couple was married on April 23, 1960 and spent 53 wonderful and eventful years together. During that time, they raised 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
He was a long time employee of Templeton Construction for 43 years, where he remained committed even through his cancer treatments. As a superintendent, he ran many important jobs throughout the Concho Valley and made many friends. One of his most recent projects included the San Angelo Stadium Field House.His strong work ethic kept him dedicated to the job until he was physically unable to be there, but he still missed it dearly.
Kenneth enjoyed making bullets, fishing, and visiting in the backyard. He was best known by family and friends for being a passionate outdoorsman, spending every chance he got at the deer pasture in Ft. McKavett, Texas. He had a special bond with his “pet” deer, which would gather around him and a bucket of corn at his feeder. He spent many weekends cruising the pasture and listening to his favorite music. Ken loved this home away from home, and loved sharing it with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, JJ and Elsie Hoelscher; brothers Dutch Hoelscher, Gerald Hoelscher; sister Anita Brosig; mother and father in-law Andrew and Louise Michalewicz; his in-laws Bernie Michalewicz, Donnie and Loretta Michalewicz, Warren Michalewicz,Walter Jacob Herbert Jacob, and Olen Weishuhn.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Delores Hoelscher of San Angelo; daughters Kimberly Powell and husband Johnny of San Angelo, Lori Kohl and husband Pat of San Angelo; grandchildren Kassie Coffey and husband Josh, Jace Stovall, Jordan and Kolton Kohl; great-grandchildren Khyleigh and Stetson Coffey. Brothers Vernon Hoelscher and wife Cornell of Olfen, and Virgil Hoelscher of Dallas; sister in-laws Annalene and Patsy Hoelscher; and many nieces and nephews. Surviving in-laws are Margie Jacob, Evelyn Jacob, Wilma and Cecil Halfmann, Sherline and Daniel Strube, Merline Weishuhn, Beatrice Michalewicz, Sandra Michalewicz and Stan Brosig.
Pallbearers will be grandson Jace Stovall; friend JJ Martin; and nephews Jeff Michalewicz, David Brosig, Brian Hoelscher, and Ronnie Wheeless.
Honorary pallbearers will be Templeton Construction Employees, Renee Herndon, Jeanne Miller, JoAnn Poyner, and Pattye Furr.
Rosary will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 9, at 7p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday April 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Olfen, Texas, with burial to follow at St. Boniface Cemetery.
