CARLISLE, J. BRYANT, age 90, of Montgomery, Alabama was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Bryant was born on March 28, 1923 in China Grove, Alabama. He devoted his life to loving and serving his family and was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, friend and servant of the Lord. He was affectionately known as “Dandy” by his six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and countless other “children” he adopted as his own. His compassionate heart, willingness to love and serve others, and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children Jimmy (Marsha) Carlisle, Lynn (Randy) Williams, and Gail (RJ) Caldwell; his grandchildren Dan (Courtney) Carlisle, Shana Williams (Tom) Cash, Craig (Susan) Carlisle, Chad (Brooke) Williams, Mandi Carlisle (David) Rouse, and Josh (Beth) Caldwell; and his great grandchildren Caroline and Callie Carlisle; Taylor Cash; Cooper and Claire Rouse; Bryant, Brayden, and Anna Claire Carlisle; Madeline, Hudson, and Mary Hollon Williams.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eunice Bedsole Carlisle and their infant daughter, Susan Frances Carlisle.
Bryant was the youngest of five siblings born to Charlie Moore and Jessie Pearl Ellis Carlisle. His siblings included Charles M. Jr., Leonard D., Joseph G., and W. Frances Carlisle.
The love story shared by Bryant and Eunice is a testimony to the legacy they lived. They met on a blind date on January 29, 1945 and that night Bryant told Eunice he was going to marry her. Two nights later when they saw each other again, she asked if the offer was still good and they were married five weeks later on March 9, 1945. The Lord blessed them with 67 years of marriage filled with love, happiness and the bond of Christ.
Bryant served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a Montgomery County dairy farmer and was selected as Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year by the Montgomery Junior Chamber of Commerce. Later he became a successful real estate broker and investor. He was a faithful member of Forest Park Baptist Church for 51 years serving in many capacities.
