Annie "Brownie" Godfrey, 94, of Decatur died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Riverside Senior Living. A memorial service will be today, April 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don Victor Hass officiating. Graveside service will be Thursday, April 25, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Courtland City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Brownie Godfrey was born March 18, 1919, in Courtland to L.B. Godfrey and Annie Clarke Godfrey. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Decatur. She graduated from Florence State Teachers College (UNA) and was a retired teacher who taught many years at Walter Jackson Elementary, Decatur City Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her twin sister, Harriett Godfrey.
Survivors include special friends, Betty Vaughan and John Brandon, Dick and Hilda Borie, Faye Engle and a host of dear friends and former students and colleagues.
