James Ward Wells, 77, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 19, 2013, near his home in Ashton, Ontario, Canada. Born Sept. 25, 1935 in Cullman County, Alabama to Esther Moore and Grier Wells. He attended Logan School, proudly served in the U.S. Navy 1954-1957, and graduated from the University of Florida. He belonged to the true church of all believers in Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Farmers. He was a retired cattle farmer and loved to sing, hunt and fish. In recent years, he spent winters at his home in Michie, Tenn. He had a big smile, a huge laugh and a gift for making friends where ever he went.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Forley Wells; sons, James (Nancy) Wells of Wilmington, N.C., and Reef (Vangie) Wells of Pinellas Park, Fla.; daughter, DeeLarue (Jim) Cox of Collierville, Tenn.; stepchildren, Roger McIlmoyle and Evelyn James of Ontario; grandsons, Hunter Boehmer of Park City, Utah, James Ryan Wells of St.Petersburg, Fla., and Travis James of Ontario; seven stepgrandchildren; and many loving cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at Moss-Service Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial following in Logan Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Logan Baptist Church, Logan, Ala.
