Mary Elizabeth Davis Addleton, 89, March 29, 1924 – April 23, 2013 Services will be held at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Hubert Addleton officiating. Interment will be at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-8 pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue.
Mrs. Addleton entered her eternal home on Tuesday, April 23. A licensed child evangelist from the age of 11, she traveled throughout the southeast with her mother and brothers Robert and John Davis who sang and played instruments. “Little Mary”, as she was known, always started the services singing “Jesus Taught Me How To Smile”.
She was a graduate of Miller High School in Macon. She married Reverend Andrew Paul Addleton, an ordained Assembly of God Minister and they were married for 67 years before his death August 3, 2009. Mrs. Addleton was a homemaker and a minister’s wife.
Mrs. Addleton is predeceased by her parents, Elsie Faye Yeager and John Riley Davis; her brothers, Robert and John Davis, infant sister, Norma; and great-granddaughter, Andria Lynn McCary.
Survivors include her daughter, Paulette (Kenneth) Stuckey of Byron, grandchildren, Dawn (Richard) Slife of Warner Robins, Michelle (Robby) Taylor and Terri (Joe) McCary of Byron, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Coliseum Hospital and Heartland Hospice for their care during Mary’s illness. A special thank you to the staff at Bolingreen Health and Rehab, especially the 500 Hall staff for their love and compassion given to our mother and grandmother during her 4 ½ years of residency.
