James C. Brown, Jr. passed away on April 27, 2013, at Baton Rouge General Hospital. He was 87 years old, a veteran of World War II, and retired from the LA Department of Transportation and Development, Traffic Services. He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Alleman Brown, his mother and father, James C. Brown, Sr., and Malvina Jumonville Brown, and his brother Patrick A. Brown. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and Ned Hissong; 2 grandchildren, Jay Hissong and Jennifer Thigpen along with her husband Chris; 3 great grandchildren, Myron (Alex) and Brendan Beach and Nathan James Hissong; a sister, Malvina (Tidda) Roberts and a sister-in-law, Florette Brown. He will be sorely missed by everyone especially his devoted companion and friend, Sandra Rea. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Catholic High School of Baton Rouge, or your favorite charity. Visiting will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Florida Blvd. on Monday from 6 – 9 pm and Tuesday from 8:30 – 9:30 am with Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church at 10:00 am followed by interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
