She was born May 23, 1934 in Seymour, CT to Peter and Germaine (Auger) Ferron. Beverly was class Valedictorian upon graduation from St Joseph’s School for Girls in Manchester, NH. She was a Girls State Academic Honoree.
Beverly married Robert W. Therrien on August 14, 1954 in Manchester. They celebrated their 50th anniversary together in 2004.
She and Bob were co-owners and tireless workers of The Melanson Co., Inc and its affiliated companies throughout NH and VT.
Bev was a former Secretary and lifetime Vice President of the Monadnock Humane Society Board, a former Chair of the Keene Senior Center Board, a former Secretary and Board member of the Prospect Place and a former Board member for the Monadnock Center for Violence Protection. She was a den mother in Swanzey for the Boy Scouts and was Chair of the Cub Scout Committee and a Board member for the Daniel Webster Council. She is a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the BSA, Monadnock District Award of Merit and the St George Award. She was also a Girl Scout leader. She was Vice Chair on Governor Steve Merrill’s State Committee on Aging which she received recognition from the Governor. She is a recipient of Rotary Internationals Paul Harris Award. Bev was an accomplished organist and pianist, having played the organ for 13 years at St. Anthony’s and St. Stephen’s Churches in Swanzey, where she also served as choir director.
Bev enjoyed reading, especially mysteries for leisure. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her beloved friends. She treasured the many close friends she made as a loving and giving member of the community. She was a grand lady always giving to others, even as her health declined.
She treasured her family and was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren. She was elated to see her great-grandchildren born and holding them brought her great joy. She loved her family dearly – spending time flower gardening with her grandchildren was a favorite pastime while always planning the next family gathering.
She was a parishioner at St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Church in Keene.
She is survived by her four children: Robert W. Therrien, Jr. and his wife, Lianne of Swanzey, Clara Farrar of Arlington, VA, David Therrien and his wife, Lisa of Alstead and Mary Lefebvre and her husband, Robert, Jr. of Swanzey; grandchildren: Matthew Therrien and his wife Brittney, Alyssa Hodgman and her husband Kyle, Hanna Therrien and her fiancé Alex Johnson, Olivia Therrien, Emma Therrien, Elena Farrar, Dominic Farrar, Anthony Farrar, Rachel Therrien, Aidan Therrien, and Brendan Therrien, Ashley Lefebvre, Jacob Lefebvre, great grandchildren: Wyatt Hodgman and Logan Therrien; brother: Peter Ferron of Tennessee; sister: Lorraine Lemire and her husband, Don of Goffstown; brother in law Maurice Therrien and his wife Violet of Rutland, VT; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog Scooter.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Fletcher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Church, Keene. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey.
