Joan G. Bowden, 73, of Fremont, OH, died Tuesday morning at Fremont Memorial Hospital. She was born February 8, 1940 the daughter of Gaylord W. and Irma C. (Haaser) Bowden. She was a 1958 graduate of SJCC.
Joan was a secretary for Continental Fremont for many years then owner of Bridal Bell and most recently worked for Bolte Realty in Fremont, OH.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she served on the church restoration committee in 2007 and was active on the parish council. Joan was a lector and communion distributor at the church. She also enjoyed traveling and playing bridge.
Surviving are her brothers, Gaylord G. (Rose) Bowden and Lee H. (Sharon) Bowden, six nieces and nephews: Sue Bowden, Sharon Paradiso, Nancy Vassar, Cheryl Sanna, Brian Bowden, Brad Bowden, several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family would like to thank Hospice of Memorial Hospital, all the doctors, nurses and staff and especially Joan’s good neighbors and friends Rod and Patty Cutcher for all their help during Joan’s illness.
Visitation will take place on Friday from 9:30A.M. to 11:00A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 709 Croghan Street, Fremont, OH. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 11:00A.M. at the church with Rev. Nicholas Webil presiding and Rev. Michael Zacharias concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
