Evelyn (Rusty) B. Stephens passed away on May 5 at age 86 at her daughter’s home in Yukon, OK. She lived in St. Pete Beach, Florida for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert L. Stephens, and her parents, Rudolph and Kathleen Boyd of Atkins, VA.
Rusty was born in Atkins, Virginia. She graduated from the University of South Carolina and earned her Masters Degree in Education at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed Temple University and elected to complete all her PHD courses at Temple.
Rusty and Robert made their home in Warminster, Pa for over 28 years. She taught classes at Penn State University and chaired the Reading Department for all schools in the Centennial School District. Together, they coauthored and published ‘101 Civil War Battles’.
Rusty loved to travel and dance. Since retiring in 1987, She was able to travel extensively throughout western and eastern Europe, the Mediterranean and Asia. She was an accomplished ballroom dancer and competed in many national competitions.
A memorial service will be held at Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg on June 15, 2013 at 2 pm.
Rusty is survived by her children, Robert L. Stephens, Jr and his wife, Marylouise, her daughter, Deborah S. Cunningham and her spouse, Scott, her grandchildren, Robert L. Stephens III, Ryan M. Stephens and Dori Lee Cunningham, and other family and friends.
