Mayfield, Barbara Ann Price Julian, age 79, of Knoxville, died on Monday, May 6, 2013, 4 ½ years after suffering a massive stroke. Barbara taught Special Education in the Knoxville City, Knox County, Atlanta Metro, and Alabama School Systems for forty five years after graduating from the University of Tennessee in 1968. She continued her studies earning her Master’s Degree and completed course work for her doctorate. She graduated from Young High School in 1952. Barbara spent many years coaching Special Olympics and helping various special needs childrens charities. She attended St. James Episcopal Church on Broadway. Barbara was preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Sophia Miller Price, step-father, Houston Riggs, step-brother, Roy Riggs, and step-sister Elnora Riggs Burritt. She is survived by husband, Jack Mayfield of Knoxville; daughters, Andra Julian-Overbay, Linda Julian, Ellen Julian O’Dell all of Knoxville; Jamie Jill Julian of Greeneville and their father James Roland Julian of Knoxville; sister Katherine Price Simonds of Knoxville; step-sister Fay Riggs Buck of Buck County, Pennsylvania; step-son Jason Mayfield of Tampa Florida; and granddaughter Christina Johnson Williams of Knoxville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special thanks to her lifelong friends the Large sisters, Shirley Ryan, and Betty Phiffer. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Friday at 10:00 AM for graveside services, Rev. Chuck Webb officiating.
