Sr. de Lourdes Warren, O.P. entered eternal life May 8, 2013. Sister was born October 27, 1915, to the late Royal George and Margaret Mickel Warren. She was predeceased by her brother. She is survived by great niece Therese Marie Morales and great great nieces Melaina Corde and Macy Marie Morales.
After graduation from St. Agnes Academy, she joined the Houston Dominican Sisters in 1932 and earned her B.A. from Incarnate Word (San Antonio) and her M.A. from George Peabody (Nashville). Study was integral to her life and ministry, completing classes and programs including journalism, movie-making, management design, Spanish, and becoming a certified Para-Legal in 1983 in which capacity she worked until 1987.
An excellent teacher, Sister taught in secondary schools in Houston (St. Agnes Academy, St. Pius X), Beaumont (St. Anthony), Riverside, CA (St. Francis). From 1964-1975 she was Academic Dean at Dominican College, influencing countless students and encouraging them with her radiant smile.
For her, retirement meant volunteer service-research in Family Law, ESL, and Congregational services.
Sister's body will be welcomed at St. Dominic Villa on Sunday, May 12, at 4:00 p.m. Wake service is Sunday at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated Monday at 10:00 a.m. All services are at St. Dominic Villa.
