Born on July 29, 1923 in Grand Ledge, the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Cole) Parker, passed away May 19, 2013 at the age of 89. He traveled the world while serving in the US Navy Armed Guard during World War II, and returned to a lifelong residency in Lansing. LeRoy retired from the US Postal Service in 1981 after many years of service. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and hunting, and volunteered countless hours for the American Red Cross, including his personal donation of over 23 gallons of blood. He is survived by sons Terry, Bruce (Vicki), daughters Marsha (Tom) Stackert, Shelley Jeffrey, and Tracy Parker; as well as their mother Judith (Hocking) Parker, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Leslie Wilson in January 2013, as well as his parents, brothers Richard and Russell, and sister Geraldine Hartig. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813 where he spent his final days; or, by giving the gift of blood in memory of LeRoy at an American Red Cross Center.
