Robert attended the first elementary school in Prince George’s County exclusively for special needs students. He continued his education through the twelfth grade, and completed requirements for his Certification of Completion.
Robert also attended Melwood Training Center in Upper Marlboro to prepare for a job. During the years he was affiliated with Melwood he successfully worked in horticulture, groundwork, custodial work, and food service. Robert became a resident in the first group home belonging to Melwood and continued to live in one of their group homes, now owned by ARC, until his death.
His family would like to acknowledge the employees of Melwood and ARC, his many friends and “house-mates”, his House Supervisor for many years, Bereket Daba, and his very special partner, Darlene Nance, for their love, friendship and caring that Robert enjoyed through the years.
Robert is survived by three siblings, Norma A. Diehl, Dudley C. Aist, and Eileen Rowland-Aist. He is also survived by four nieces and six nephews.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 10th from 6:00 until 8:00pm. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 11th at 11:00 at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, MD.
