There are people in our lives that we have the great privilege to know and will always remember. Individuals who stand out from the crowd because of their strong moral character and their unselfish devotion and service to others. James Theodore Haire was one of those. He was a man that made the lives of those who knew him much fuller. He was truly a modest man and loving husband and father.
He was born January 21, 1919 in Danville, Arkansas. His parents, Hayward and Laura Haire had seven children. James was preceded in death by his three brothers Arvle, Charles and Vernon, sisters Ola, Syble and Lano. He attended grade school and high school in Danville Arkansas. After graduating from college in 1942 with honors and after serving in World War 2, he started his teaching career in Visalia, California. There he met and married the love of his life Norma Lee Weldon. They have two children, Brenda Anders and Gary Weldon. He also has four grandchildren, Ben and Dan Weldon, Sandra Henriksen and Jerry Anders, who passed away in 2003. There are nine great grand children and four great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who have meant so very much to him. He was a teacher for many years at Mt. Whitney High School and loved teaching children mathematics, especially algebra and accounting. Later in his career he was asked to join the staff of teachers at the College of the Sequoias where he specialized in teaching mathematics and business courses.
He was a true and faithful follower of Jesus Christians served as an Elder in the Lord’s Church for more than 50 years. His strong faith in Christ was demonstrated daily by his efforts to serve the Lord’s Church and his fellow man.
He touched many people’s lives, shared many smiles and enriched the community. Both he and his labors will truly be missed and we look forward to being reunited with him in that heavenly land that Christ has prepared for the faithful.
He knows how much his family and friends love and miss him.
Memorial services will be held on June 17, 2013 at the West Visalia Church of Christ on the corner of Linwood and Caldwell. Burial will follow at Visalia District Cemetery.
