She graduated from Emile High School in Bastrop, Texas. She also graduated from Cosmetology School and was a licensed Cosmetologist. She made sure that her three girl’s hair was intact. They never had to go to a beauty shop.
She was united in holy matrimony to Horace Jennings Bellinger in 1947. This union was added six children. Ella loved children (other than her own).
She professed her faith in Christ at an early age.
She joined the East Nineteenth Street Missionary Baptist Church in 1951. 67 years she was a member serving in the choir and missions. She donated food to Vacation Bible School and her name is on the playground area which was also donated. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Lily of the Valley, Chapter #47, for over 60 years serving as a secretary for over 35 years. She worked at Austin ISD for 40 years. She also worked for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown and at Scottish Rite Dormitory at the University of Texas, as a switchboard operator for many years.
She was preceded in death by both parents, Lewis Clark and Mary Magdalene Walker Clark. Her three sisters; Rosie Lee Clark Wayne, Esther Mae Clark DeShay, and Annie Lee Clark Ward, and two brothers; Willie Clark and Jessie Willard Clark, and one niece, Robbie Linn DeShay.
Sister Ella Bellinger leaves to cherish her precious memories three daughters; Bettye L. Clark Wilson Burkes of Austin, Texas, Etta Johnson of Dallas, Texas, and Lori A. Bellinger of Austin, Texas. Three sons; Tommy Lee Clark of Austin, Texas, Rev. Robert Louis Bellinger and wife Jacqueline of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; William Lloyd Bellinger and wife Linda; two special step daughters, Helen Wilson Fleming and Hettie Lee Wilson and one step son, Thomas Jack Bellinger, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
A special “Thank you” to Ruby F. Clark, Kimberly Ann DeShay and Benjamin V. DeShay for your loving care of our mother.
A funeral services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 15th of June 2013, East Nineteenth Street Missionary Baptist Church, 3401 Rogge Ln, Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Burdett Prairie Cemetery under the direction of Cook-Walden Funeral Home.
