He proudly served in the United States Army Reserve from 1968 until his retirement in 2002. Bill was a veteran of the Vietnam War and Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
He was a police officer of Anniston, AL for two years, with continued police service in Dallas, TX. He later served as an investigator for the state of Texas until his retirement.
Bill was an avid reader and history buff, devoted husband, father and grandfather with a special place in his heart for his two puppies.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Rebecca Clark Dobbs; son, William R. Dobbs; daughter, Jennifer Gann; grandchildren, Haylee, Alexis, Ashton, Austin and Nicky; and sister, Barbara Rollins of Heflin.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Bro. Darrell Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.
