Lela Madsen Potomac Winzenried, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away June 15, 2013, at the age of 90. Lela was born in Salt Lake City to Elmer Madsen and Sarah Ellsworth Madsen. She graduated from Granite High School. She was the 5th of eight children. She married Louis L. Potomac in 1944. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent their years in La Jolla, CA until his death in 1981. In 1988 she married Jesse D. Winzenried of Cody, Wyoming and spent 25 wonderful years between their homes in La Jolla and Cody. Lela was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in many leadership positions. She is preceded in death by R. Wayne, Donald, Edna, Myra (Peggy) Mabey and E. Bee Kimball. She is survived by Erma Nelson and Rae Kern. She is survived by her husband Jesse D. Winzenried of Cody, Wyoming, son Larry Potomac (Elouise) of San Diego, California, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and stepchildren, Susan Calston, Jay Winzenried and Keith Winzenried also Erma Nelson and Rae Kern. Service will be at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah on Thursday June 27th at 10:00 AM. Viewing will be prior to the service at 9:00 am to 9:45 am. Final resting place will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park next to her loved ones.
