Barry Zimman of Canton, formerly of Marblehead on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the age of 92. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Fisher), devoted companion of the late Wilma Alexander and loving friend of Ethel Weisberg of Canton. Son of the late Morris & Anna (Abrams) Zimman. Loving father of Robert & Marilyn Zimman of Reston, VA, Michael Zimman & Ellen Rovner of Brookline, Richard Zimman & Valerie Cox of Ripon, WI, Jonathan Zimman & Glenn Roberts of San Francisco, CA and Jeffrey Zimman & Ken Ruebush of San Francisco, CA. Adored grandfather of Marc, Adam, Ethan, Ariel, Sarah, Rachel, Daniel, Samuel, Alissa & Samuel and great grandfather of Abigail, Gabriella, Milo, Brendan, Lillian Phyllis, Niamh, Elizabeth & Dylan. Dear brother of the late Harold, Stuart & Robert Zimman. The family would like to thank his caregivers Anne O’Grady and Nick Post for their devotion and love.
Services at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Ave. (parking avail. on the Riverway) on Monday, July 1 at 10:30am. Burial in the Temple Sinai Cemetery, 50 Buxton Rd., Danvers. Memorial observance will be at his late residence in Marblehead following the burial through 6PM, and continuing on Tuesday at the home of Michael & Ellen in Brookline from 4-8PM, and the family will gather at Orchard Cove in Canton on Wednesday from 2-4PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Barry & Phyllis Zimman Fund for Visiting Scholars, C/o Bowdoin College, Office of Development, 4100 College Station, Brunswick, ME 04011-8432. Mr. Zimman was the retired president of Zimmans’s Home Furnishings of Lynn.
