Carrol R. Powders, native of Lemons, Missouri and resident of Baton Rouge for more than 25 years, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at the age of 88. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and “all around great and loving man.” Carrol was a retired Postal Clerk from Council Bluffs, Iowa and Cape Girardeau, Missouri. After retiring from 30 years at the post office, he became the manager of Carlton Place in Baton Rouge. Carrol was a WWII veteran and a member of the American Legion here in Baton Rouge. He was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at Temple Baptist Church for over 15 years, and presently a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church. Carrol is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Dot); two children, Rebecca Ann Goodrich and Randy Eugene Powders; brother, Dean Powders; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gray, Bobby Goodrich, Liz Tuffs and Michael Goodrich; and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be 2pm – 5pm, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Greenoaks Funeral Home and will continue Monday, July 1, 2013 at 9am until the funeral service at 10am also at Greenoaks Funeral Home, Pastor Roger Waggoner officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be men from the Gospel Light Baptist Church.
