Arlan Philip Breitenstein, 90, passed away Monday, July 01, 2013 at Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he attended Mohnton High School and enlisted in the Marines during World War II where he served in the South Pacific. He later joined the United States Air Force where he became a fighter pilot flying F-80s, F-86s and F-102s. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Air Force in 1967 and moved his family to Palm Bay, Florida where he was employed by the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1985.
Arlan’s greatest love was his family, focusing his attention on his wife and daughters. He is predeceased by his wife Jeanne, brother Arthur and sisters Gloria and Virginia. He is survived by his brother Marvin, his two daughters, Sherry and Debbie, his grandchildren, Neil and Misty and his great grandchildren Michelle, Neil Jr, Kacie, Colin, Kiersten and Cole.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 5th at 10am at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL. The family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in lieu of flowers.
