She is survived by her husband, Phil; daughters, Linda Fisher (Mark) and Kerri Pratt (Randy); granddaughter, Corri Fisher; grandson, Brett Fisher; and her beloved Sheltie, Amber.
Ruth was born September 3, 1936 in Woonsocket, RI and grew up in Northern Rhode Island. She was selected prom queen at Burrillville High School, Class of 1954, where she was escorted by Phil, who became her husband of 58 years.
As a lover of travel, a member of the "The Hiker Chicks," an avid tennis player, plus a graduate of Rollins College at the age of 58, she led a happily active and well-rounded life, always in pursuit of self-betterment and adventure.
Ruth and Phil lived in Brevard for 34 years, but they were especially fond of their home away from home in Beech Mountain, North Carolina. Here, they enjoyed retirement together in the beautiful setting of the Appalachian Mountains, where they had a multitude of friends and were very active. Ruth loved the breath-taking views, the pristine mountain air and the serenity of the outdoors. It was her place of peace, and now forever will be; her ashes will be scattered over the mountain in August.
Services will be held on July 20th at 10:00 AM at Faith Viera Lutheran Church located at 5550 Faith Dr. Rockledge (off Viera Blvd).
In lieu of flowers, Ruth would be pleased with donations made to the Mid Florida Sheltie Rescue. Donations can be made to their web site through pay pal at www.midflsheltierescue.com or checks can be made to mid FL Sheltie and sent c/o Barbara Davis, 1480 Meadowbrook Rd., NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905.
